Welcome to my cozy new home on the web! I am beyond excited to begin this new journey called the "pray without ceasing life." I never dreamed a three-word Bible verse could change my life, but that's exactly what happened.
In Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians, he closes with a burst of instructions on how to live the God life well. Tucked in between rejoicing and giving thanks is a small but challenging phrase: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV).
That verse has haunted me for decades. What does it mean? Is it even possible to pray constantly? As I meditated on the verse, I sensed the Lord breathing a working definition into my soul.
To pray without ceasing is to acknowledge God's constant presence in my life by maintaining a running conversation with Him throughout the day. As I share with God what I see, He allows me to peer through His lens and to experience life more deeply than I'd experience on my own. The pray without ceasing life is a life filled with divine appointments to be His hands, His feet and His heart. It's a life connected to the One who knows me best. It's a life filled with the glory of God.
Does that sound like something you want? Me too, friend, me too.
God is training me in this remarkable way of doing life. Slowly but surely, He is helping me eliminate distractions and tune in to Him. And, oh, how my eyes have been opened! I'm becoming a noticer. A noticer of needs. A noticer of beauty. A noticer of God's fingerprints on my life.

Lord, thank you for not just loving us but liking us. Sometimes, it's hard to believe You, the God of Everything, enjoy our company. You long for intimacy with us even though we're rebellious, rowdy and regularly distracted. Give us prayerful hearts, Lord. Pray without ceasing hearts. Hearts that run to You for help. Hearts that bubble over with gratitude. Hearts that see the world through Your eyes. In Jesus' Name I pray, AMEN
