God Loves Mommy and Me: A Review and a Prayer

My babies are so big! Two are grown, and one’s not far from being so. But God is sweet to give us mommas bonus babies to love along the way. Great-nephews and nieces. Church nursery loves. And one of these days, my babies will make me a gramma. I think I want them to call me Birdie. Whatcha think?

When Frontgate Media asked me to review a new children’s book, I almost declined thinking my time for children’s books has passed. But something told me to say yes.

I’m glad I did.

God Loves Mommy and Me, by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Laura Watkins quickly took me back to rocking my blonde-haired boys and reading book-after-book. I’m not sure there’s anything sweeter than reading to little ones.

It’s important to start filling our babes with truth from the start, and this book does just that. It’s full of sweet lines about a momma’s love and the love of a beautiful Father God.

The illustrations in this sturdy board book are colorful, whimsical, and peaceful–perfect for bedtime stories and mid-day snuggle breaks.

I plan to read my free review copy to my great-nephews and niece every chance I get.

Thank you for the love You have for mommas and their babies. You assure in Your word, “[You] will feed [Your] flock like a shepherd. [You] will carry the lambs in [Your] arms, holding them close to [Your] heart. [You] will gently lead the mother sheep with their young” (Isaiah 40:11 NLT).  I love that verse and how you singled out the moms. You get it, Lord. You know moms need an extra measure of tender guidance because mothering isn’t for the faint of heart. For every mom reading this today, please, Lord, hold them close and help them enjoy the journey. Help them to keep their cups full of Your truth so they can spill it out onto their precious children. Help them to rely on Your strength and not their own. Just help them, Lord, in any way they need.

In Jesus’ Name, AMEN

Pursuing the Passion Review and Giveaway

I don’t know about you, but this time of year…the Easter season…always makes me reflective. It’s as if a cross-shaped beacon turns and flashes like a lighthouse beam alerting us to pause and remember.

Remember mankind’s broken, sin-stained history.

Remember Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross and His triumph at the tomb.

Remember His love that gave all, so we can have all that truly matters…a relationship with God.

I’m excited to share an excellent and powerful resource to help us focus on Christ this Easter season.

In conjunction with the groundbreaking movie, The Passion of the Christ, Twentieth Century Fox Entertainment has released a 7-day devotional is available entitled, “Pursue the Passion.”

The series includes video clips from the movie and devotional thoughts to help both Believers and seekers reflect on Christ’s passion for His Father’s will and for mankind’s redemption.

As Christians, who is a better model than Christ for us to follow?

This devotional series is available on YouVersion, BeliefNet, and Patheos. Will you join me in reading and reflecting on the truth in this timely resource?

The Passion of the Christ is available on Blu-ray in both English and Spanish. Fox has provided me with a review copy to give away to one of my readers! Leave a comment expressing what Christ means to you or a question you have about Christ, and I’ll choose a winner on Wednesday, April 12th.

Let’s catch Christ’s passion and pursue Him as deeply as He pursues us.

Lord, thank you for loving us so much that nothing, not even Your own life, was too much to give. Forgive us for our selfish ways. Breathe Your passionate commitment into our wishy-washy spirits. Help us pursue Your passion and spread it to this broken world. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN
